The Hunt for Guest Bloggers

The Hunt for Guest Bloggers

We have just launched the hunt for three guest bloggers to kick start our exciting new social media project. The idea behind the project is to highlight the exciting work curators will be doing with experts from the National Museums Scotland to research and catalogue our Historic Scientific Instruments collection. The Collection of Historic Scientific Instruments contains over 500 items illustrating the history of teaching and research in Natural Philosophy, Physics and Astronomy in the University over a period of five centuries.

Every object in a collection has a story, and it is our aim for people to write stories around some of our mystery objects (we call these mystery objects as we currently have no information about what the object is or how it was used). These stories are not going to be based on historical facts about the objects (like most museum labels), but on ideas from people's imagination.

This week we put the call out for guest bloggers to come and pick the mystery objects from our behind-the-scenes stores. I'll keep you posted on how it goes and their contributions will appear here soon.
