Guest Bloggers come to store

Guest Bloggers come to store

It's been a busy afternoon. Museum don't tend to open up their stores to random members of the public. It's unheard of to let people wander the shelves and pick up objects which take their fancy. Just the thought of the idea can make a curator feel like they are going to have a mini heart attack!

Today we bent the normal curatorial rules and allow three students free run of the store. Each person was given a pair of gloves and told they could look on any shelf, open boxes, pick up objects, and move parts to see how it worked.

And guess what? Nothing was broken! Curators always say that the public can't go into store for safety reasons, but with a little bit of care an planning, we had a great afternoon and everyone seemed to get a lot out of it. Our three students, Ben, Kathleen and Margot, picked two objects each. These objects will be the focus of MUSA's Mystery Objects and they will be writing guest blogs in the coming weeks.
